Who was the founder of this Modality?

A French priest and dowser, Alex Bouly (1865-1958), coined the term radiesthesia in 1927 and founded The Society of Friends of Radiesthesia.

What was his/her spirituality?

Radiant energy is a theory about a radiation present and accessible by the name micro-vibrational physics. It is also called psionics (see the word psi).

What culture did it come out of?

The concept of radiesthesia was known to the ancient Egyptians and Chinese; their artwork bears witness to this fact. Some estimate that dowsing may date as far back as 7,000 years.

How does it claim to work?

Using a stick with a fork in it. Discovery of Near or Distant Water, Metals, Hidden Objects and Illnesses.

What were their beliefs?

Modern mysticism in the name of science

Who is their god or gods?

New Age – earth energy

What is the occult potential?

Dowsing, then, is simply another form of “divination” (any occult technique for obtaining information and help from the spirit world through a physical device). It is bypassing Christ Jesus to help you find things.
The Biblical / Christian Evaluation / Scriptures

The word occult comes from Latin occultus (hidden), referring to the ‘knowledge of the secret’ or ‘knowledge of the hidden’ and often meaning ‘knowledge of the supernatural’, as opposed to ‘knowledge of the visible’ or ‘knowledge of the measurable’, usually referred to as science.

What Is the Source of This Force?

The Occult. When asked to prove the existence of this energy, the healers used a dowsing rod and pendulum – old instruments of the occult.

“Sensitivity to the rod and ability to make a pendulum react are psychic powers,” says Dr. Kurt Kosch in his book, Occult (p. 188).
